Not surprisingly, you can find out more about your favorite sport through various television services and packages than you can by reading the newspaper – it’s just one of the ways technology has really stepped up the game. And if you are looking for coverage of your favorite Pittsburgh teams and you don’t have a cable service provider with a comprehensive sports package than you may want to stop reading and take a trip over to http://www.direct.tv/direct-tv/Pennsylvania/. Don’t worry, we will wait.

Got that taken care of? Good! The fact of the matter is that while nothing can quite compare to seeing a game live, not all of us have the funds or the time to do just that. We need the next best thing which is why we turn to television and really great cable providers can meet you halfway when it comes to comprehensive sports coverage at prices you can handle. The internet isn’t a bad place to turn to either if you really need to get your sports fix and need to see the action for yourself.

While it’s true that nothing will ever compare to a real live game, television comes a might bit close and it’s one of the best ways you can keep up with your favorite Pittsburgh sports or any other teams and sports, for that matter.

Pittsburgh. Sports. Those words go together like Primanti and Brothers, Iron and City, Black and Gold. Gotta love it. When it comes to Pittsburgh sports, my bread and butter is the Pittsburgh Steelers… however, with the lockout still looming ominously above the city’s skyline and pre-season just a distant dream, I’ve had to turn my attention elsewhere to… The Buccos??

This came as no small surprise to me, believe me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I “ love” the Pirates. Love them the same way I love the indigestion after a Capicola and Cheese from Primanti’s. Really. I love the Cap and Cheese as much as I love any sandwich, and the vicious acid reflux that accompanies my consumption of it just comes with the territory. Similarly, Pittsburgh is my prize jewel when it comes to cities, and the losing ways of the Bucco are simply par for the course. But not right now (knock on the biggest chunk of wood I can find).

As of today, the Buccos are 3 games above .500 (in July!) and have a real shot of winning the division (I think I need a bigger chunk of wood).

With fingers crossed, wood knocked, and palms closed tightly in prayer, all I can say is here we go Buccos, here we go!

For sports fans of the many teams in Pittsburgh, there are many different places for fans to get the latest up to date news about the team. Depending on which sport, and team you are looking to find news on, there are different online, newspaper, magazine, and television sources to turn to, for the most comprehensive reports on your team.

Start off with television. The best place to turn for sports news, regarding any team, any sport, any time of day, is ESPN. This station will offer you any news about your team, and you will know it is a reliable source, and that you will get breaking news right as it happens.

Another source is a local newspaper in the Pittsburgh area. Buying the local paper, and reading the sports page, will give you daily updates, on all sports in Pittsburgh, and will give you the latest news, on a daily basis, about your favorite teams.

You can also find information online, depending on the sport and the team (or player), you can use a basic search engine, like google, to get the latest news on your teams and favorite players. There are many resources out there, the choice is up to you.

When purchasing fan gear for sports fans in Pittsburgh, there are many options for the fan to find the right gear at the right price. There are many fan shops to buy Jerseys and other fan gear for for basketball, hockey, football, and baseball fans alike. The first choice for Pittsburgh fans for fan gear is at the stadium or arena where the teams play. They typically have a pro shop for gear and team wear in all stadiums of all major sports teams.

A second option to find Jerseys, would be through the team’s website of your favorite teams. Many team pages sell fan gear, jerseys, hats, t-shirts, and all apparel for the team. Usually these sites offer consumers free shipping if they order a certain dollar amount (usually 75).

A third choice to find gear is a store in a local mall. All malls have athletic apparel stores, and they will carry the team’s which are represented in the city’s apparel. A fourth option is on sites like amazon or ebay.com. These sites sell everything, and you can find Jerseys of all your favorite Pittsburgh team athletes.

Pittsburgh has a long and storied sports professional history. They have professional teams in 3 of the major professional sports in America: The Pittsburgh Steelers (football), The Pittsburgh Pirates (baseball) and the Pittsburgh Penguin (hockey). The Pittsburgh Steelers have the most successful over their history. They have won 6 Super Bowls and have appeared in 8 of them. They have the record for having won the most Super Bowls in the history of the NFL. The Penguins also have had recent success winning the Stanley Cup.I found some more information here.

One of the most prominent players in Steelers history is Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw was the quarterback at the helm for the Steelers first 4 Super Bowl championships. He won the Most Valuable Player award in each of those Super Bowls. The Steelers were also known for their impenetrable team defense during that period.

The Penguins have had their fair share of superstars as well. When they were a dominant team in the early 90′s Mario Lemieux was the best player in all of professional hockey. Today Sidney Crosby is the player that led the team to championship glory. There are no shortage of sports heroes to be found in the rich and storied history of this blue collar sports town.
